Seattle DUI Arrest Help

If a person is stopped and arrested by a Seattle Police Officer for suspicion of DUI, they will be taken to one of several Seattle Police Department Precincts for BAC processing.

The Seattle Police Department and Seattle DUI Cases

The Seattle Police Department has a specific "DUI Squad" where every officer has an in-car video to record the investigation and arrest of a person arrested for a Seattle DUI.  Furthermore, most precincts have a video recorder in the breath test room.  A person may request the videos from both the car and the precinct from the Seattle City Attorney's office.  Typically, the request is made through the attorney of record.

If a person receives a Seattle DUI, they will likely receive notice of their arraignment upon being released (They may not receive notice if they were given a blood draw as it takes time for the State Toxicology Laboratory to produce the results). Typically, the arraignment is within one to three days after a person is released from custody for a Seattle DUI.  The prosecutor for Seattle DUI's is the Seattle City Attorney's Office.  The City Attorney for Seattle is Tom Carr, and he has several deputies who work in the office.  It is common for the City to seek several conditions (including bail, AA/NA requirements, ignition interlock) as a condition of release while the case is pending.

Seattle DUI Court

People who face a Seattle DUI will have court at the Seattle Justice Center which is located at 600 Fifth Avenue in Seattle. Because a person charged with a Seattle DUI will likely have court immediately after their arrest and the City will likely be seeking several onerous conditions, it is imperative that person contact an experienced DUI attorney to discuss their case immediately after their release.
