South Dakota Ignition Interlock Law

South Dakota is one of 3 states (the others are Vermont and Alabama) which have no laws requiring drivers convicted of DUI offenses to install ignition interlock devices. The state legislature proposed a bill in 2005 which would have made the devices mandatory for all repeat DUI offenders, however, and judges can require the use of interlock devices in individual cases.

We will update this page as more information becomes available about pending South Dakota Ignition Interlock Device Laws.
