Rhode Island DUI Laws

Under Rhode Island DUI laws, if a driver either has a BAC of at least 0.08 (0.04 for commercial license holders) or is under the influence of alcohol, other intoxicating substances, or both, and is impaired to the point where he or she cannot safely operate a motor vehicle, the driver is guilty of driving under the influence.

If the intoxicating substances in the driver's system are illegal drugs, any amount is enough to violate this law.

Rhode Island Driving While Impaired Law

If a driver who is at least 18 but less than 21 years old who is found to have a BAC of at least 0.02 is guilty of driving while impaired.

Rhode Island Driving Under the Influence, Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury

When any driver who is under the influence of alcohol or any intoxicating substance causes serious bodily harm to any other person, he or she is guilty of Driving Under the Influence, Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.

Rhode Island Driving Under the Influence, Resulting in Death

When any driver who is under the influence of alcohol or any intoxicating substance causes the death of any other person, he or she is guilty of Driving Under the Influence, Resulting in Death.
