Common questions about ignition interlock devices (breath test devices in vehicles ) in Oregon DUII cases
Question: If I get a DUII in Oregon, will I have to install an ignition interlock device (IID) in my vehicle?
Answer: Yes. You will have to have one in order to obtain a hardship license during the period of your suspension following a DUII conviction. You will also need to have one in order to reinstate your license upon finishing the suspension period following an Oregon DUII conviction (1 year for first offenses, 2 years for 2nd offenses).
Question: Is there a way to avoid having to have the device all together?
Answer: Yes. You won't have to have an IID after an Oregon arrest if you enroll in and successfully complete the Oregon DUII diversion program.
