A DWI suspect who lead police on a chase through Alexandria, Louisiana, Friday afternoon was eventually discovered with an infant in the vehicle.

29-year-old Christopher Squyres was reported for stealing a pack of flavored beer from a service station on Warren Ave, according to thetowntalk.com. Police responded to the call, but when they approached Squyres, he began to run to his vehicle. The suspect drove away, leading other police responding to the call on a chase.

Eventually, Squyres stopped at Alexandria High School in the parking lot. He was detained at the scene, and officers found a 10-month-old infant in his car. They also found a handgun in the driver side door pocket. It is illegal to carry a handgun while intoxicated in the state of Louisiana. Squyres refused sobriety tests, but a judge ordered a warrant for a blood test

Squyres was charged with DWI, aggravated battery, hit and run and flight from an officer in addition to other penalties. Charges related to child endangerment and possession of a weapon while intoxicated may be forthcoming dependent on the results of the blood test.
