A wrong way driver on the Meadowbrook State Parkway in New York City was charged with DWI early Saturday morning.
48-year-old Todd Follins or Brooklyn was traveling north in the southbound lanes. Troopers on the north side of the road spotted him first, and they pulled alongside him to try to get Follins to stop. They were flashing spotlights and sirens at the wrong way driver, thankfully around 1:30AM so the roadway was less busy.
Follins failed to stop, so a roadblock was set to keep him from traveling further. He was unable to stand properly upon exiting the vehicle, according to a police report. After noticing other signs of intoxication, officers issued a breath test, and Follins recorded a .22% BAC. This is enough to justify enhanced charges.
Follins was charged with DWI, reckless endangerment and reckless driving in addition to traffic violations.
