A woman who crashed into a police vehicle on its way to service an emergency in Minneapolis was charged with DWI early Sunday morning.

The accident occurred around 2AM when officers were heading to the scene of a fight. The trooper responded had just activated his siren and lights when he was hit at an intersection of Interstate 35W. The woman driving the other car, 37-year-old Keena Wells, was arrested for DWI after the accident. Thankfully, neither driver was injured in the crash.

The driver also faces a minor charge of failure to provide proof of insurance. She allegedly failed to yield to the police car, which had on its emergency indicators, at an intersection. The report indicates the trooper slowed down at the intersection, perhaps preventing further damage or injury.

The accident was the second in which a police car was hit by a drunken driver in Minneapolis this weekend, according to the Star Tribune. The holiday weekend coinciding with Mardi Gras celebrations and Chinese New Year celebrations may have made this a more dangerous weekend on the road than average weekends.
