We often report on police officers who get arrested for drunk driving. The typical case is of little general interest except for the irony that an officer who normally enforces the laws ended up on the wrong side of an arrest. When DUI officers, especially prolific ones are arrested, they are newsworthy because of the hypocrisy.

In Tennessee, a recent arrest may take the cake as one of the most bizarre arrests of anybody, cop or civilian.

According the the Kingsport Times-News, 47 year old deputy Samuel Bledsoe was arrested for DUI. According to the report, he had vomited on himself. When detained in the squad car, he allegedly started kicking the squad car door.

After he allegedly attempted to slam the car door on a trooper, he was restrained in a K9 cage. According the the report, Bledsoe then made statements that indicated he thought that a supervisor would let him off, presumably because of his status as a police officer. The arrest happened on Friday. Bledsoe was terminated from his job the following Monday.
