A double fatality accident in Virginia Beach on Tuesday has resulted in one DUI charge for another driver.
The victims, husband and wife, were visiting from England at the time of the accident. They have been identified as 74-year-old Anthony Tonking and 72-year-old Mary Jean Tonking. They were driving on Princess Anne Road in a rented Ford Contour at the time the accident occurred.
44-year-old Christopher Dockiewicz lost control of his BMW, striking the couple's car. Anthony was pronounced dead at the scene, and Mary Jean died later in the hospital. Dockiewicz additionally sustained severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
When an individual is admitted to a hospital following a traffic accident, no warrant is needed to draw blood for a DUI test in Virginia. Though the results of this test will not be revealed for weeks, officers were able to charge Dockiewicz under suspicion of DUI. He will likely face increase charges in connection with the deaths.
