Jefferson County, Kentucky, district court Judge Katie King has been the target of a number of complaints, and most recently is charged with preferentially treating an acquaintance.

The controversy surrounding King started with questions of whether she violated the campaign finance laws to win her appointment. These questions are under investigation but not yet answered. Now, former mayoral candidate Ed Springston has filed an independent complaint, according to an investigation by WKLY News.

According to Springston, the sentencing of Jacob Isaac, allegedly an acquaintance of King's, has been routinely reduced despite his multiple DUI arrests. Isaac has been charged 4 times for DUI-related offenses in 15 months.

In the most recent arrest, Isaac was taken to jail on $1,000 bond. It is unclear how King was notified of his arrest, but she ended up handling the issue and releasing Isaac of his own recognizance the same evening. Photos later surfaced of the two together a a social events, and Isaac has confirmed they are friends on Facebook and see each other socially.

Despite the multiple DUI arrests and charges facing Isaac, he has yet to serve jail time. He has been sentenced to over 400 days conditionally. The complaints will require an independent investigation.
