According to a press release from the Boynton Beach Sheriff's Department, a mail carrier was found drunk on duty around 12:15 yesterday afternoon.

Kevin Michael Crocilla's blood alcohol content was measured at  .264% and .258% when police found him asleep behind the wheel of his truck. They were responding to a 911 call reporting a truck stopped alongside the road on Northwest First Court. The driver was bent over the wheel.

Officers say Crocilla was visibly intoxicated, falling asleep while officers were attempting to speak with him. They say his breath smelled of alcohol despite the noticeable smell of mouthwash as well. They also say he was having trouble standing.

The mail carrier told officers he had been drinking wine all night the night before. He then claimed he drank about one half a bottle of mouthwash when he noticed the strong smell of liquor on his breath. He was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail where he remains as of now.

The two blood alcohol tests performed is standard practice in Florida and most states. There is also a control test performed to assure the machine is working correctly. The machine stores the BAC tests as well as the control for evidence.
