A Belleview, Florida, man is facing DUI charges after reportedly riding his lawnmower while drunk.
Ron Martin, 29, was allegedly under the influence when he and a female passenger, Charlene Mallorey, stole a riding lawnmower and crashed it. Both persons on the mower fell of the mower when it crashed.
Adding to the problems with the incident, a school bus full of children supposedly saw the accident. The children began laughing at the fallen people. Martin, then, allegedly started banging on the bus window in an attempt to enter the bus and discipline the children for their behavior.
The bus driver says the lawnmower actually struck the bus prior to tipping. Martin refused a breath test. he was taken to Marion County Jail. The officers claim Martin also threatened them during the arrest proceedings. He was charged with DUI, threat to a public servant and criminal mischief.
In Florida, DUI laws do not just apply to cars. Any motor vehicle arrest involving alcohol can lead to a DUI charge. In this case, the lawn mower was gas powered. However, even a self-propelled bicycle arrest may lead to a DUI charge.
