A Lawyer Can Make THE Difference In Your Mitchell County Case

Not all law firms are experienced enough or equipped to handle every OWI/DUI case. In fact, there are many firms that simply dabble in OWI/DUI defense.  Their practice model is built on taking your retainer fee and then pleading you guilty at the earliest opportunity.  These firms usually do not file an administrative appeal to protect your driving privileges while the criminal charges are pending.  They typically overlook potentially exculpatory information in the State’s file that could lead to a dismissal.

Only a select few firms instead focus primarily on defending impaired driving cases in Mitchell County.  You need a firm that will give you unwavering attention and personal support, and fight for every inch of ground in your case.  Colin Murphy is a specialized OWI/DUI defense attorney who will not be satisfied until every possible avenue of advantage is explored in your case. He will not stop until everything possible has been done, all of your questions answered, and your fears and concerns addressed.

He is certified in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and OWI/DUI Investigation, a skill which enables him to attack the administration and scoring of sobriety tests on traffic stop videos and in investigative reports. He is also a certified operator of the DataMaster OWI/DUI breath testing device, which allows him to challenge test results due to errors in maintenance, calibration and testing protocol. He has received state-of-the-art training in forensic blood and urine testing for OWI/DUI defense. He is also a member in good standing of the National College for DUI Defense, the premier association of dedicated OWI/DUI defense attorneys and experts in the country.

Experience and skill

Colin graduated from Grinnell College with a degree in General Science – Biology. He later graduated with honors from Drake Law School where he was an editor for the Drake Law Review as well as a member of the Blackstone Inn of Court.  Fortunately, Colin knew from the beginning he wanted to devote his professional life to the defense of the accused so he took full advantage of the law school’s criminal practice curriculum.  Advanced level courses such as Criminal Procedure, Remedies for Error in Criminal Cases, Evidentiary Suppression Motions and Trial Advocacy prepared him well for a two-semester internship with the Federal Public Defender for the Southern District of Iowa.

Colin founded the Law Offices of Colin C. Murphy, P.C. to dedicate his practice to OWI/DUI defense in North Iowa. His thorough understanding of the physiology and pharmacology of alcohol coupled with the specialized knowledge of field sobriety and chemical testing make Colin a skilled advocate for the accused drinking driver. When pleading guilty is simply not an option, those charged with OWI/DUI in Mitchell County can turn to him for the professional advice and attention their case deserves.
