Flat fees in DUI cases
The vast majority of DUI defense lawyers charge according to a flat-fee basis. This means that the price of representation is set, and does not depend on time spent on the case.
Most people prefer flat-fees because they know what to expect at the outset. A major fear that people have when hiring a lawyer on an hourly basis is that they have no control over the size of the fee. They know that each time they call or email their lawyer's office they will be charged.
Not with the flat fee.
With flat fees, what you see is what you get.
The true, all-Inclusive Drunk Driving Attorney Flat Fee:
This type of flat fee covers everything from start to finish. The advantage is that if the case goes to trial it may save you money. The disadvantage is that if the case does not go to trial then you are paying the same amount as somebody who does go to trial. Some people do not like all-inclusive flat fees because this type of arrangement may give a lawyer an incentive to recommend settling a winnable case because it involves less work for the same fee.
